The Balcony

Lucid’s massive undertaking of one of the most complicated and misconstrued plays of our time written by the controversial playwright Jean Genet. The abridged version of this one-act play of 9 scenes on the average runs 3.5 hours.  This play with LDL is produced unabridged and completed with the deleted dream sequence making it a marathon performance of 5hrs.  Audiences never lose a beat as they are moved from one room to another, sometimes part of the action and sometimes in its way.  Closed circuit cameras set in the space make the action available anywhere in the theater making a choose your own adventure feel that LDL is famous for.  There is no better play, and no harder play to adapt to this format then Genet’s masterpiece, The Balcony.
